A private invite brought you here — and maybe it will bring you into the best* maker/hacker space in Brno. INDUSTRA LABS was founded in 2015, and since then it has been through quite a wild journey. After our third move and a complete transformation of the community, we finally have the experience, the space, and above all the energy to build a strong, open, and technically solid space we can trust — and where we can trust one another. Our international team quickly became part of the wider nonprofit ecosystem of INDUSTRA: a place where a roastery and café, a theatre and gallery with a strong European-level dramaturgy, and an international residency centre for artists, hackers, and makers all operate side by side.

*)We have a clear vision and a concrete plan, but also a lot of work, mistakes, and lessons ahead of us. We are not building a sterile service or an anonymous space 'for everyone', but a community-run space with clear values: sharing know-how, do-ocracy, safety, responsibility, openness, and respect for people who actually create, build, repair, take things apart, experiment, learn, and teach others. In the imposing halls of the now-defunct Zbrojovka Brno, we are calibrating and launching the first machines, completing the missing infrastructure, and piecing together the culture of a place where hardware, software, craft, imagination, art, and social responsibility meet. We are creating a space that will always be technically strong, humanly fair, and bold enough to have an opinion of its own.
